Evaluation and rationale of the performance of several elastomeric composites incorporating devulcanized EPDM

Ethylene Propylene Diene rubber (EPDM), is present in many applications. However, its crosslinked structure makes difficult recycling. The use of devulcanized EPDM, (dEPDM) as a component elastomeric composites, real possibility to reuse EPDM scraps. In this study, three matrices (natural (NR), styrene butadiene (SBR) and rubber) have been tested including recycled component. previously was using thermomechanical process followed by microwave irradiation. resulting blended with the matrixes then new compound vulcanized again. samples showed general increase their mechanical properties thermal stability specially marked for NR SBR.
